So here’s the thing about a jagali, if you grew up around Mysuru, you know exactly what we mean. It’s that raised verandah in front of the old houses, where nobody ever really “visited”, they just sort of ended up there. Someone would be walking past, get pulled into a conversation, and an hour later they’re still sitting there with chai, gossiping about absolutely nothing important. And a koota? That’s just what you call it when people gather like that. No occasion needed.

That’s basically the whole idea behind this place. We wanted to build something that felt like that, except with a lot more going on than just chai and gossip (though honestly, we’ve got room for that too).

We’ve got pickleball courts, and fair warning, it gets very competitive very fast, people show up saying “just one casual game” and three hours later they’re still out there, sweaty, arguing about a line call. There’s an event space for whenever you need one, whether that’s a big loud celebration or something small and low-key, we’ll set it up either way. And then there’s the food, which honestly is the part we are most excited about. We’ve got sushi, we’ve got dim sum, we’ve got proper Singaporean flavours — and right next to all that, classic Nati-style food that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it. It’s a strange combination on paper. Somehow it just works. Order one of each, share it all, that’s how it’s meant to be eaten anyway.

And here’s the part we really care about, you don’t need to be a member to walk in here. Members obviously get their spot, always, but this was never meant to be some closed-off thing. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring someone you just met last week. That’s kind of the whole point of a jagali in the first place, it never asked who you were before making space for you.

So that’s Jagali Koota. Not trying to be fancy, just trying to be the kind of place where you show up for a quick game or a quick bite, and somehow end up staying for three hours because the conversation got good.
